A note from our president on Monday, December 14, 2020

‘The LORD is my light and my salvation’ whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life’ of whom shall I be afraid?’Psalm 27:1

Earlier this week a good friend of mine received the news that he only has a couple months left to live. The cancer has spread and the doctors are migrating away from fix it mode and into comfort mode. While the neighbors speak of what will be under the tree this year, his family is having an entirely different conversation. To say they’re walking through a dark forest would be an understatement.

King David also traversed many an unlit road. Goliath wasn’t his only giant. But, he had come to know on the journey that the truth about these dark places was that his imagination had more power over his life than it deserved. He had come to know God as the Illumination of the universe and that His very breath would destroy any power his foes could impose.

Life is full of pitch black forests. MD Anderson, two lane highways with no shoulder, job loss, and a million others all lead the imagination into the deepest, darkest chapters of life.

Be encouraged brothers and sisters. We have the Light of the world standing behind us. When we submerse ourselves in Christ and completely trust Him our path gleams and our giants fall.
