In the book of Acts we see Barnabas coming alongside Paul functioning as an encourager and supporter of the race in progress. Paul was quite capable of handling himself but because of God’s perfect vision, into the situation, a helper was provided to accompany him on the journey.
Similarly, my race, at times, functions like a well oiled machine capable of handling whatever comes around the corner. However, there is an entire team behind the curtain that does not get a standing ovation when the product arrives at 2 o’clock in the morning. As thankful as I am for great customers that trust us and the resources to handle it, I’m even more thankful for the outstanding family God has called to accompany me on this journey.
Praise God for a loving wife that does not lose it when the phone rings at 2 AM or when we have to cut a vacation short to help a customer in need. Praise God for a two year old who can light up a room with her smile and pick our logo out of 100 others. Praise God for a 10-year-old who wears the merchandise proudly, encourages me to keep washing feet and heads himself to entrepreneurship with a bend towards evangelism.
Praise God for the perfectly timed phone calls throughout the day, lunch when we are slammed, execution of the dime-a-dozen errands that can derail the train, a hot meal in the evenings and the devotional that follows. Without my family behind this the word ‘success’ quickly departs.
Be encouraged brothers and sisters. God’s placement of who will accompany you, and when, is a divine appointment from the One who loves you more than you can fathom. Be sure, this day, to run back and thank Him for His perfect vision into your life.
