‘come on my soul don’t you get shy on me, lift up your song because you’ve got a lion inside of those lungs, get up and praise the Lord’ Brandon Lake - Gratitude

When Adam and Eve were in the garden everything was perfect. And then one euphoric morning they were tempted by the illusion of greener pastures. Their voices echoed a desire to reject God’s word as their sole authority and paradise slipped through their fingers, never to return.

Like Adam, I too think my way is better. Jesus shows me the journey, the beautiful trees and landscape along the way and I take it upon myself to skip ahead because I’ve been duped by the lies of the serpent. Quickly, I’m guilty of singing to the wrong choir, seeking praise from the wrong audience.

Jesus fills me with breath over and over again. He fills my lungs with the Lion of Judah. I am created to give that breath back in worship, and not just inside the church on a Sunday morning.

Jesus did not die for my freedom on this earth. He did not die so that I could have an AR and a deer lease. He did not rescue me out of my own muck and mire and save me from my own dark sin so that I could respond anyway I please in the name of democracy. His blood was shed on the cross to completely cover me in righteousness so that I would use the lion in my lungs to preach His glorious name from every platform.

Be encouraged brothers and sisters. Run your race. Fight the good fight. Preach from the rooftops. Uncage the lion and sing your hallelujah. It’s what you were created to do. And, more importantly, God Jehovah is worthy.
