‘It is not your business to succeed (no one can be sure of that), but to do right. When you have done so, the rest lies with God.’ C.S. Lewis
A great customer of ours asked how we were measuring our success? If we were concerned about numbers from last year versus this year, P/L statements, EBIT, etc.. Well meant accountability between friends.
I was fortunate enough to have a father who taught me the value of God’s timing and God’s placement of life. As a young boy I loved to go down to the office to see dad. Maybe it was the Christian music on the radio or the moral of his employees or just the fact that it was my dad’s ‘office’. Whatever it was, not an opportunity was missed for my father to ‘teach’ the Gospel and remind me what product was actually being sold. The location, the equipment, the message and the service…every single bit of it on purpose.
I was taught at a very young age that success is not measured by profit margin, the number of customers on the books, square footage or money in the bank. Success is measured by the number of feet washed and the number of lost that find their way home.
It is God’s economy. And when you put Jesus first the things you need are added in measure. Stay the course friends. The currency that we strive for will never lose value and will never run dry.
