‘Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.’ 1 Timothy 6:17-18
I have made the mistake, many times in my life, to think that all gifts (family, income, toys, health, etc) that have befound their way into my lap, are mine. I was taught at a young age that God is the source, but, up until recently I have viewed myself as the owner with the freedom to do whatever I please.
When you leave the safety of a solid career, at my age, with a mortgage, wife and two kids to jump into the pool of unknowns your perspective of what trust looks like does a 180. And, when an order drops out of the clear blue sky into your hands a real freedom exits inside your peripheral, and the perspective derived from it is not attainable from the ledge.
I encourage you, brothers and sisters, to be rich in your giving. Say yes to anyone that asks. Write a blank check and have a cheerful heart when doing so. If you do it for the Lord your cup will never run dry. From one manager to another.
