A note from our president on Tuesday, April 21, 2020

’ I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.’ John 15:5

Often times I wonder what made Peter sink when he was out of the boat walking towards Jesus. I’m sure God took into account the fear and unreasonableness that were likely to occur when he stepped out onto the liquid surface away from the presumed safety of the wooden vessel.

It may have been fear, but sometimes I think there’s more to it. Yesterday, for some reason, I found myself distracted by the world and the barrage of offensive comments on Facebook and LinkedIn regarding our current situation. The night before I engaged in material lusts by spending family time looking at one of my favorite subjects, offshore boats. Couple this with a myriad of other things that happened and very quickly I was doing things in my own strength instead of His, allowing sin to devour me.

When the world implodes on itself, like it’s doing right now, taking our eyes off the Prize happens fast and we begin to sink.

Remember God has overcome the world. Be encouraged brothers and sisters for the sea, the waves, the boat and the sky are all His.
