‘At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: ‘You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.’ Mark 1:9-11
In the middle of my devotional this morning the Holy Spirit’s conviction pierced the tranquility provoking a true grasp of this weighty statement made above by God Himself. That conviction went something like this ‘ do I understand Who I am dealing with? Do I understand Who I am praying to? Do I understand Who truly is the Author and Perfector of my life? Something tells me when I’m in the lowly position of being on my knees it’s not low enough. He alone is worthy of us laying our life at the foot of the Cross and denying our self.
Stubbing my toe while fumbling for the light switch reminds me I’m human. Catching a glimpse of what Jesus did on the Cross, and understanding the weight of that, reminds me He literally has all of this in His hands.
