“Better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere;” Psalm 84:10
This past seven days ended successfully and on solid ground with a devoted marriage, healthy kids, a thriving business, a foot washing mission on point, trailers on rent, new inventory hitting the shelf and even a few fish for the freezer. It has been a moment since the sea was this calm and while I understand it to be only temporary, the blue-ribbon week has been welcomed with open arms. But, even as close to perfect as it can be, it all goes before the foot of the Cross again tomorrow. In a few hours, I will walk onto the vessel of life again, as only the second in command understanding I am not the owner and never have been.
Everything I touch, see, taste, build, grow and nurture does not, has not and will not be the product of my hands. I may work unto the Lord and commit the sweat experienced to my audience of One, but the fish pulled from the nets will remain the property of my Captain. These blessings are certainly worth the blood and tears but have never been mine to gaze at for more than a minute, and as my eyes encounter something beyond mesmerizing, it is realized that one day in the presence of the Lord far exceeds whatever bounty this expansive abyss could possibly offer.
